Sustainable Ma'i

We loved everything about it; the different products that can be used and about the menstrual cycle. It really helped to have pictures and the information in details for my daughter. Also, making my daughters transition into womanhood more comfortable! Knowing what’s to come really helped to ease her mind. And hearing from other woman and being on Zoom with girls her age really helped too. My daughter also loves the fact that her elementary school talks to them about it with her friends, helping them to prepare for when the time comes. Thank you, Mahalo!

I am so comfortable when I use the menstrual cup! I can’t even feel it and only have to change it once a day. This program has made me feel so powerful!!

I am really grateful that this movement is helping girls like me who are embarrassed of having period and who has little knowledge about it. As a teenage girl I feel what girls have to go through during their menstruation because it's really hard for us that we get ashamed for having periods especially when they leak through our pants.

I feel thankful for this program because it has taught me a lot about our periods and what we can use to help our periods also that we all have different ways of dealing and coping with our periods.

The level of information was Fantastic and the graphics were really lovely. It made the discussion about periods seem very “grown up”- as they should be. As a parent, I really appreciated the content and delivery. BRAVO!

In high school, having my period was such a huge challenge for me. I either missed school for a week or was in the health room with a heating pad on my stomach. My school nurse would charge twenty-five cents for a pad or tampon. At the time I would just purchase it and buy a couple for emergencies. But looking back at it now, buying feminine necessities like pads and tampons is ridiculous. Females shouldnʻt be charged for such necessities as feminine products. I am currently obsessed with reusable products and discovering that feminine products are becoming reusable blows my mind.

I used to have a lot of shame when talking about my period but this has helped me feel so much better! Thank you for doing this!

I thought that the educational booklet was extremely helpful. I was never given any information about my period; everything I know about it is from the internet and from talking with other people my age. Having one reliable source where I could find all the information and support I needed is something I wish I had when I first got my maʻi.

I love this idea! Moving towards more sustainable products is a great way for people to have more accessibility to period products. I also hugely appreciate that your program is offering these products for free for Highschool students! I remember pretending to be sick during P.E. to avoid that icky feeling while running with a pad or having to wait for my mom to pick me up after leaking through clothes because I didn't have extra products.

I haven't gotten my period yet but i feel more comfortable and prepared after my zoom meeting. Mahalo nui loa.
